Emergency management

We continue to work on the Te Tauihu Emergency Management Strategy on behalf of all iwi.

Last month we met with representatives from the Red Cross, MSD, Nelson Tasman Emergency Management and Nelson Bays Public Health to talk about our collective roles and responsibilities. We then met with Te Whatu Ora to talk about rāhui and our emergency management strategy.

It’s also great to see the Ipu Ohotata placed across the rohe starting to fill up and last week Omaka Marae in Blenheim and the Marlborough Emergency Management Group worked with Rātā Foundation to capture some of the mahi on film – looking forward to that one.

Finally, we also welcome a familiar face back to lead the team; Kahutāne Whaanga has been appointed Whakaruruhau Whānau Ora Navigator, a new a role designed to support Māori who have been impacted by Civil Defence emergencies while also assisting with implementation of the Te Tauihu o Te Waka a-Māui Emergency Strategy workplan. We are thrilled to have Kahutāne on board.
