Kei Aku Ringa

Māori Trade Training Programme

Kia ora,

Due to an increased volume of referrals for support through the Kei Aku Ringa programme, we are temporarily pausing our services. We appreciate your understanding and will reconnect with employers and whānau once we are able to resume the programme.

Ngā mihi, The Kei Aku Ringa Team

Māori Trade Training Programme

A unique opportunity to enhance your workforce

Kei Aku Ringa is a programme in which we partner with business and employers who provide industry training to new or Year 1 apprentices.

As a Māori organization backed by the eight iwi of Te Tauihu o te Waka-a-Māui (the top of the South Island), we integrate te ao Māori (the Māori world view) into our work with apprentices.

This might include workshops, relationship-building and cultural sessions, delivered outside work hours, to enrich both the professional and cultural development of apprentices.

We have seen the positive difference Kei Aku Ringa has made not only in the lives of our rangatahi, but also on worksites. Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you would like to know more.

Benefits to Employers

  1. Support from our dedicated coordinators to ensure the well-being and cultural connection of participants throughout the training process, leading to improved employee retention.

  2. Coverage of training costs per participant e.g. course training fees up to $2,990 (GST inclusive) as well as Employment Placement Costs up to $5,750 (GST inclusive), easing the financial burden of apprenticeship programmes.

  3. Assistance to access wage subsidies, training costs like driver licenses, first aid etc for eligible candidates through connections with the Ministry of Social Development.

What do businesses who are part of Kei Aku Ringa need to do?

  1. Notify us of future apprenticeship vacancies so we can share vacancy information with our networks.

  2. Inform us of newly appointed apprentices who have Māori heritage, within 12 months of commencement, so we can discuss how the programme can assist.

  3. Enter into a partnership with us. We believe that by partnering with Kei Aku Ringa, you not only invest in the growth of your business but also contribute to the workforce development sector.
